Mask regime and other COVID-19 restrictions cancelled in Moscow

15.03.2022

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has announced the cancellation of mask regime in the capital since March 15, 2022.

He explained this decision by the stable improvement in the epidemiological situation. In addition, Mayor Sobyanin announced the abolition of Covid-19 restrictions for business. According to him, it should support the business experiencing sanctions pressure.

The following clauses of the decree of June 8, 2020, were declared invalid:

• Mandatory use of masks and respirators
• Observance of social distancing
• Compulsory temperature measurement at the workplaces
• Smoking hookahs in restaurants, bars, cafes and other public places.

Prior to this decision, on February 28, 2022, Moscow authorities abolished self-isolation for elderly people and remote work requirements. On March 3, 2022, Sergei Sobyanin instructed to stop using QR codes, and also removed restrictions on visits to catering facilities, theaters, museums and other cultural and sporting events.

Krasnodar region has also started easing COVID-19 restrictions. Starting March 14, 2022, food courts and children's playgrounds resumed operation after almost a two-year long pause.
