Marriott’s policy is not to confirm exact opening dates while a project is still under construction. And we would like to apologize that the comments given at the press event in Moscow on May 29 regarding the upcoming Marriott hotels in Sochi were interpreted by mass-media in the wrong and misleading way.
Sochi hotels - the Marriott Krasnaya Polyana hotel and the Courtyard by Marriott Sochi Plaza hotel - will open on time and we are happy to confirm this, and as ever, we at Marriott will continue to support our owners and developers to meet the opening dates.
Russia is in the top ten international source markets for the Marriott group of hotels worldwide and is the fifth largest source market for their hotels in Europe. For more than 16 years, we have been building strong relationships with owners, developers and with Interstate who manage many of our hotels here in Russia. We are working in collaboration with all of them to open high quality brand properties with a common goal of satisfying the increase in demand from Russian travellers. The Marriott hotels in Sochi are high on our list of openings currently, taking into account the Winter Olympics and the huge interest it generates worldwide.
