Almaty, June 1, 2012 - Deloitte is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Managing Partner to lead its Caspian Region practice. Darryl Hadaway completes his term as leader of Deloitte Caspian on 31 May, and will be succeeded by Mark Smith.
Mark joined Deloitte Kazakhstan in April 2007 and has led the financial services industry group since 2011.   Over five years he has developed a rich understanding of the region's diverse culture and economy. He has served audit clients in the banking, insurance and manufacturing sectors for 12 years under IFRS, US GAAP and UK GAAP. Mark Smith commented: “I am honoured to be given the opportunity to lead Deloitte's expansion in this key growth region. The Caspian region is developing as a vital crossroads between Europe and Asia and Deloitte is in a unique place to help local and multinational firms position themselves for the opportunities that this is creating. I would like to thank Darryl for developing such a talented team and his tireless work in building the firm over the last six years”.
Deloitte CIS CEO David Owen said: “Deloitte has rapidly grown its presence in the CIS since opening the first office in Moscow in 1990. Now we have nearly 3 000 talented people working in 16 offices across 10 countries. I am confident that Mark Smith, as the new Managing Partner for Caspian, will not only bring the knowledge and understanding required to continue expanding our business in the Caspian region, but also energy and fresh thinking to inspire our people, ensuring we provide the quality solutions our clients need to fulfill their growth ambitions.”
