InterContinental Moscow Tverskaya appoints Mathieu van Alphen as hotel General Manager

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts announced the appointment of Mathieu van Alphen as hotel General Manager for the InterContinental Moscow Tverskaya.

 
In his new role, Mathieu van Alphen oversees daily operations of the newly opened InterContinental Moscow Tverskaya and is responsible for hotel profitability, guest satisfaction and employee development.
 
A 25-year veteran in the hospitality industry, Mathieu van Alphen joined InterContinental Hotels & Resorts in 1987. 
 
Throughout his hospitality career, Mathieu van Alphen has held various corporate positions including working for the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts in Germany and Croatia. 
 
Most recently Mathieu van Alphen worked as general manager, InterContinental Budapest where he oversaw the daily operations of the 402-room hotel. The most significant achievements during his role were increasing the market position during economic downturn and renovation by 10%  and employee satisfaction from 45.3% to 82.5%, being in the top 5 within the region. The hotel was awarded Best Employer Hungary (AON/Hewitt) and with The CSR Hungary award (Corporate Social Responsibility award, patronized by the Hungarian President). Also InterContinental Budapest was awarded the Top 501 hotels in the world by Condй Nast Traveller Magazine.
 
Mathieu van Alphen served as Board member of the Dutch Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and as a Member of the Hospitality working group of the American Chamber of Commerce.
 
From 2002 Mathieu van Alphen served for 5 years as General Manager, InterContinental Koln that during his management got various awards for best business hotel, best restaurant Maulbeers and best bar in Germany Harry’s New York bar.
 
A Dutch national, Mathieu van Alphen is married and has 3 children. His leisure activities are travelling, reading, golf and running.
