President Putin announced registration of coronavirus vaccine in Russia

11.08.2020

On August 11, 2020 Russia registered the first coronavirus vaccine COVID-19, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

The President noted that the vaccine works effectively, creating stable immunity to COVID-19 in vaccinated people and does not cause serious side effects.

The vaccine was called "Sputnik V".

As Healthcare Minister Mikhail Murashko said earlier, the vaccine will be produced by Gamaleya Research Center and by Binnopharm. Doctors and teachers will be offered the vaccine first.
