Updated COVID-19 restrictions in Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region

Saint-Petersburg authorities have extended coronavirus restrictions until March 31, 2022, and introduced new ones, temporarily banning minors from visiting places of mass gathering. The Government of the Leningrad Region also imposed additional restrictions from January 24, 2022, due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus infection.

In Saint-Petersburg:
• Children under the age of 18 have been forbidden to visit museums, zoos, exhibitions, sports events, and other places of mass gathering because of the spread of coronavirus. The measure comes into force on January 28, 2022.
• The authorities also decided to transfer all additional educational programs for children and adolescents, that take place outside schools, to a remote format.
• The above restrictions will last for two weeks till February 13, 2022.
• All other restrictions introduced by the Governor Alexander Beglov in his previous decree № 121 dated 13.03.2020 will be extended until March 31, 2022.

In the Leningrad region:
• People over the age of 60 who have not been vaccinated or have not recovered from coronavirus in the last six months should observe self-isolation. The same requirement applies to the citizens with chronic diseases.
• Enterprises should transfer to remote work one third of their employees. The first to go should be unvaccinated employees. 30% of regional officials will also be moved to the work-from-home regime.
• Mask regime has been tightened in public transport – passengers will not be allowed to enter the cabin without personal protective equipment.
• The number of participants in mass events should not exceed 50 people; in addition, authorities must be notified about such events.
