Lidings, the leading Russian law firm dedicated to advising foreign companies on all aspects of Russian law is pleased to announce the appointment of Stepan Guzey as Partner at the firm’s Moscow office with effect from 1 February 2013.
Stepan Guzey joined Lidings as Counsel in January 2012. Prior to this, Mr. Guzey worked as a senior associate in the Moscow offices of Vegas Lex and Hellevig, Klein & Usov. Stepan also acted as head of legal department for Energoprom Management, the world’s fifth largest supplier of carbon and graphite products.
As a certified tax adviser and an expert in Russian tax and customs law Stepan represented clients in complex projects including trade and export finance, corporate restructuring, project finance and PPP, and advised on tax aspects of M&A and regulatory matters across a wide range of industry sectors. His selected representative matters include: advising a major Chinese financial institution on its investment project in Russia; supporting acquisition of the minority stake in the AIM traded development company by a large Russian investor; representing the largest Russian mobile provider in a successful M&A project related to the acquisition of a cell-retail company; acting for the biggest Russian hydro-power energy operator in a large investment project in Russia, and other high-profile deals. A graduate of Chelyabinsk State University, Mr. Guzey received his Ph.D. from Moscow State Law Academy. He is a certified Tax Adviser and a contributing member in a number of professional legal associations.
