Event information
Dear AEB Members,
By this letter we would like to invite you to join our online session dedicated to presentation and discussion of the report released by the European Chamber of Commerce in China, in partnership with MERICS: Decoupling: Severed Ties and Patchwork Globalisation, which measures the costs of decoupling for businesses operating in China.
Date: 24 February (Wednesday), 2021
Time: 14.00-15.00 (time of Nur-Sultan)
Language: English only
The report finds that while the trade war has largely failed in its goal of forcing firms back to their home countries, the technology war is inflicting real damage on companies and economies alike. With decoupling dynamics showing no signs of reversing, solutions are quickly needed to deal with this new reality of ‘patchwork legalizations’.

• Jacob Gunter, Senior Policy and Communications Manager at the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China
• Sheng Hong, Director of the Unirule Institute of Economics, a professor at the Economic Research Institute of Shandong University
