AEB at the Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona

On October 28 Tadzio Schilling, AEB CEO, and Philippe Pegorier, member of the AEB Board, moderated the session on green economy and global diplomacy during the XIV Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona.


Panel Session "Natural Gas and the Green Economy", which was moderated by Tadzio Schilling, touched the issue of natural gas as a crucial part to accompany the energy industry towards its decarbonization by supporting the development of green gas and by digitalizing infrastructures.

The panelists, such as Victor Zubkov, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Gazprom; President, Russian Coordination Committee of the Petersburg Dialogue Forum, Leonid Mikhelson,  Chairman of the Management Board, Member of the Board of Directors, NOVATEK,Paolo Gallo, CEO Italgas, Davide Tabarelli, President, NE Nomisma Energia, and others discussed volatility in the gas market and specific features of the current energy transition. According to Gazprom, the share of natural gas in the global fuel market will grow to 27% by 2050, among other things, it will play an important role in the development of the transport industry.

The participants of the session also discussed the details of future global engagement in the field of climate policy and called for an honest and open dialogue on the most contentious issues.

The first day of the Forum ended with the session "Global Diplomacy in the Modern World" moderated by Philippe Pegorier, Partner, KESAREV Public Policy, Corporate Affairs & Government Relations Consultancy.

The participants of the session noted that the pandemic has brought changes not only to the economic landscape of the modern world, but also strengthened the negative aspects of the geopolitical environment and discussed what needs to be done for effective diplomacy in today's fractured world.

Alexander Pankin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Giorgio Starace, the Italian Republic Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Grigory Rapota, Member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and others shared their views on the situation.

In particular, Vladimir Chizhov, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the European Union, expressed the hope that the streak of "clearly abnormal relations" has been passed and he called the pragmatic partnership as the most appropriate definition for the essence of the new type of Russia-EU relations.
