AEB Sanctions Update “14th EU Package and Recent US Restrictions. What Business Needs to Know”


On July 2 the first AEB Sanctions Update from the series of rebranded webinars took place. This time the invited experts clarified the most vital issues that the business needs to know about the 14th EU sanctions package and recent US restrictions. 

The webinar was opened by Tadzio Schilling, AEB CEO, and moderated by Andrey Zharskiy, AEB Finance and Investments Committee Chair, Partner, ALRUD Law Firm, and Maria Ostashenko, AEB IT and Telecom Committee Chair, Partner, ALRUD Law Firm.

Natkin, Chief Business Officer, Macro-Advisory Ltd., Laura Brank, Partner, Head of Russia Practice, DECHERT LLP, Vladimir Efremov, Partner, Melling, Voitishkin and Partners, and Anton Sidnin, Senior Associate, B1, shared their expertise and answered numerous questions of the audience about the recent sanction restrictions. 

Besides the overview of recent EU, US and UK sanctions the experts gave examples of activities that could expose foreign financial institutions to sanctions risk and made a deep dive into US and EU IT sanctions. 

Within the discussion of the EU 14th sanctions package the following issues were raised: intellectual property rights, anti-circumvention measures, finance restrictions, prevention of re-export.
