On May 18, 2023, the AEB North-Western Regional Committee’s Customs, Transport and Logistics Subcommittee held an open roundtable “Annual meeting with north-western customs administration (SZTU)”.

The event was held in offline format at Belmond Grand Hotel Europe with full support of “Denuo” company in St. Petersburg.

The meeting addressed the following issues:

• The result of the work of SZTU for 2022, the 1st quarter of 2023: customs payments, electronic declaration, automatic release.

• Customs Control units’ work results after the release of goods: royalties of industrial enterprises and other additional charges, statistics of the administrative responsibility, initiation of criminal cases.

• Seizure and confiscation of goods under Part 3 of Art. 16.1 of the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Offenses in case of non-compliance with the gross weigh in some exceptional cases.

• Customs expertise at goods delivery places or at the Customs control zones of an Authorized Economic Operator instead of checkpoints.

• Control over compliance with prohibitions and restrictions: simplification in conformity assessment, parallel imports, work of Customs register of objects of intellectual property, counterfeit detection statistics.

The participants were able to get first-hand information from Sergey Senko, First Deputy Head of the North-Western Customs Administration. 

The event was moderated by Sergey Vasiliev, Chair of the AEB NWRC Customs, Transport and Logistics Subcommittee, member of the AEB NWRC Steering Group.
