“Best practices in health and safety sphere in Russia”

On 22 May 2014, the AEB Safety, Health, Environment and Security Committee held the round table, titled “Best practices in health and safety sphere in Russia”. This expert meeting was organized following the success of events held in 2013 with the aim to provide first-hand information about existing policies, challenges and corporate practices in the sphere of health & safety in a constantly changing regulatory and business environment. The round table was moderated by Konstantin von Vietinghoff-Scheel, Chairman of the Health & Safety Sub-Committee. Oleg Kovalenko, HSE Manager, Schneider Electric in CIS, presented his experience of introducing a drivers’ safety culture development program. Philipp Rybakov, HR Vice-president, JTI Marketing and Sales, talked about the concept of wellbeing and role of EHS as one of key drivers of wellbeing for employees. Sergey Kosarev, Health & Safety Engineer, Deutsche Bank, provided practical guidelines to the technique of refunding of safety and environmental advancement. The presentations were followed by a lively discussion. The key message of the event was that EHS is a key component of wellbeing of people contributing to their engagement and leading to better business results and that employers have full capacity to considerably improve this aspect.
