Briefing by Andrey Slepnev, Minister for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Union

On December 16, 2021, the representatives of the AEB met with Andrey Slepnev, EEC Minister of Competition and Antimonopoly Regulation.
In his opening remarks, the Minister stressed the regularity of meetings with the AEB, the need for stable, reliable ties that would allow partners to see the future. The EEC actively cooperates with the European Commission on a wide range of issues. One of the new topics was the fight against COVID-19. Among other topical areas of work: the climate agenda and related technological transformation, in connection with which a special working group headed by Mr. Slepnev was created within the EAEC. The Minister also identified two priorities for the further development of cooperation: 1) strengthening the internal stability of economies and the development of cooperation in various fields; 2) global technological transformation, the climate agenda and digitalization.
Tadzio Schilling thanked the Minister for the opportunity of the meeting in his response, stressing that the AEB experts are actively involved in the Working Groups and identified several priority areas for the Association - the activation of relations between the EAEU and the EU; technical regulation of pesticides; labeling; parallel imports; zero import duty for electric vehicles; customs and tax issues; e-commerce.
During the meeting EEC representatives answered numerous questions of the AEB, it was agreed to hold working meetings on a number of topics.
