On June 10, 2022, AEB held its regular webinar “Crisis Update: Sanctions and Countermeasures”. 

The speakers and participants of the event discussed the impact of the current crisis and sanctions on business in Russia and Russian economy. 

Alexey Dorofeev, CEO, Vice-President Commercial Head Russia & Kazakhstan, GfK Rus, presented results of the AEB annual survey "Strategies and prospects for European companies in Russia", that was held in April-May 2022. This year the survey was focused on the impact of the current crisis on various sectors, the affect of sanctions and countermeasures on business of the AEB member-companies. The expert noted that expectations regarding Russia's economic development in the short and medium term have been greatly reduced, but long-term economic prospects continue to be assessed rather high by business. 

Heli Simola, Senior Economist, Bank of Finland Institute for Emerging Economies (BOFIT), talked about the impact of Western trade sanctions on the Russian economy. The expert estimated short-term effects of the export & import sanctions on the Russian economy.
