Johan Vanderplaetse participated in the meeting of European businesses with Andrey Slepnev, Minister for Trade of the EEC


On April 19, 2021, the delegation of the Lisbon-Vladivostok Initiative Board (hereinafter - the "Initiative") met with Andrey Slepnev, Member of the Board (Minister) for Trade of the EEC.

The delegation included Ulf Schneider, president and founder of SCHNEIDER GROUP, Chairman of the Board of the Initiative, as well as members of the Board of the Initiative: Ernesto Ferlenghi, Executive Vice-President of the Association of Italian industrialists in Russia, Confindustria Russia, Emmanuel Kide, President of the Franco-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Matthias Schepp, Chairman of the Board of the German-Russian Chamber of Commerce, Johan Vanderplaetse, Chairman of the Board of the Association of European Businesses, Vice-President of Schneider Electric and Vice-President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Sergey Krasilnikov (representative of Alexander Shokhin, Member of the Board, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs).


The participants of the meeting discussed the development of the European and Russian businesses in the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as the prospects of improving the business climate between the economic entities of the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union. Ulf Schneider underlined growing support of the Initiative from the business community: "More than 100 companies from 12 countries have already supported our Initiative and signed the memorandum, 40 international experts are working in 6 Task Forces, focused on such issues as visa liberalization, customs and transport regulations, certification, green economy, single pharmaceutical market, taxation issues. In June we will present business proposals to the EU and EEU authorities on each of the topics". For his part, Mr. Slepnev expressed hope for fruitful cooperation, development of cooperation and trade relations in the area from Lisbon to Vladivostok, and invited the Initiative participants to closer cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Commission.
