The most important issues discussed at the meeting included recent changes to the Russian migration legislation, its further development and its practical implementation. Dmitry Demidenko informed the participants about the FMS new legislative initiatives, concept of Migration Code as well as upcoming changes in immigration system, which include replacement of work permits and visas by temporary and permanent residence permits. Federal Migration Service intends to abolish the quota mechanism in Russia as well. It is proposed to replace it with the requirements related to determination of allowable proportion of foreign workers in various industries. The draft law introducing this new system should be passed to the State Duma during autumn session this year. 

AEB experts were welcomed to take an active part in the Russian migration legislation reform.
