Parallel Imports Liberalisation Briefing and Press Conference
05.09.2013
On September 5, 2013 the AEB held a Briefing and a Press Conference on the results of an independent study on Financial and Economic Consequences of Parallel Imports’ Liberalization in Russia.
The independent study was conducted by the International Market and Social Research Institute GfK-Rus on the initiative of the AEB.
The study involved 34 expert interviews with senior management representatives of the leading players on various markets as well as the price comparison of several products on these markets in both Russia and European countries. The respondents generally expressed the opinion that the liberalisation of parallel imports would have a negative impact on the Russian economy and would lead to a decline in Russia’s investment appeal, a reduction in the localisation of production, unemployment in the Russian industrial production sector and other negative effects.
