Round Table “Green Finance” for Energy Efficiency


The AEB Energy Efficiency Committee held today its Round Table “Green Finance” for Energy Efficiency: Opportunities in Russia ”. It was chaired by Bashir Chalabi, PBN Hill+Knowlton Strategies, the Committee Chairman.

In the first part devoted to the “Green Finance” as State Policy Priority” Victoria Chilikina, Bank of Russia, underlined that every project should have an economical practicality and the regulator insists on that. The Bank of Russia works on the conception of developing the multifunctional platforms. Sergey Sementsov, Vnesheconombank, said that  one is observing a real breakthrough in green financing (some pilot projects are about to be realized, for instance in solar, wind energy and biogas).  VEB has elaborated a roadmap of sustainable development but the current geopolitical situation does not allow to work on the world market of green financing which is a nonsense. Vsevolod Gavrilov presented the main financial products offered by Sberbank - he noted that  some of them are in high demand on the market. He gave also some practical recommendations to the European companies, AEB members, working on the Russian market. Vincent Duijnhouwer, EBRD, spoke about EBRD experience in “Green Finance” (projects & investments; financial assistance; policy dialogue).  Max Gutbrod, Baker & McKenzie spoke about pre-export financing; Energy Saving Contracts (practical risks & their regulation).
