On March 25, 2022, the AEB held the third weekly webinar “Crisis Update: Sanctions and Countermeasures”.

Tadzio Schilling, AEB CEO, gave an update on the meetings held by AEB this week. 

All speakers noted that every week brings new sanctions, that are characterized by unprecedent coordination from the side of implementing them countries. 

Laura Brank, Managing Partner, Moscow Head of the Russia Practice, DECHERT LLP, told about last US sanctions and highlighted that they most target 3 sections – banking, defense and energy. 

John Bedford, Partner, DECHERT LLP, presented an overview of the last EU and UK sanctions. 

Andrey Zharskiy, Partner, ALRUD Law Firm, and Timur Akhundov, Counsel, ALRUD Law Firm, talking about Russian countermeasures, mentioned a list of transactions for which permission from the Central Bank is required. 

Nina Goulis, Partner, Corporate tax, KPMG in the CIS, told about anti-crisis tax package, including special arrangements for hotel and tourism industry, and special conditions of corporate income tax.
