Igor Yurgens is one of Russia’s most influential experts. He is remarkably skilled at combining public, business and political careers.
Mr. Yurgens is the Chairman of the Management Board at the Institute of Contemporary Development, one of the most influential Russian think-tanks. He serves also as Director of PBN Holdings, an international communication consultancy.
Igor Yurgens' career spans a remarkable range of Russian and international lobbying organizations, private businesses and research institutes, making him one of Russia’s most respected analysts and industrialists.
Nowadays he is known as a “Kremlin liberal.” He called for the modernisation of the Russian economy and political system, blaming centralisation, protectionism and state interference in the economy for Russia’s economic crisis. Igor Yurgens urged the government to come up with liberal initiatives and put an end to the country’s one-sided dependence on oil and gas exports.
The Institute for Contemporary Development, chaired by Igor Yurgens, unites not only liberal analysts and experts like Vladimir Mau and Evgeny Gontmakher, but also a number of high-level officials known as the current “President’s team”.
