Are the Russians about to flood Western markets? Or are they encountering insurmountable obstacles? Is such an “invasion” profitable for Western economies or does it represent a real threat? Having worked at the highest levels in government and as a top manager, Alexander Livshitz is well placed to answer these questions. He will address an audience at an AEB B2B Meeting “The Russians Are Coming! Globalisation of Russian Big Business” on January 29, 2008, from 9:30-11:00 (registration from 9:00), at the Hotel Katerina, Nobel Hall, Schluzovaya Nab., 6/1.

Mr. Livshitz was appointed Chairman of the Russian Presidential Advisers Group in 1994. From 1994 to 1996, he was the President’s Adviser on the Economy and Finance. In August 1996, he became Russian Minister of Finance and for a time also held the post of Deputy to the Russian Prime Minister, as well as representing Russia at the International Monetary Fund. He was Head of the National Council of Banks. From 1997 to 1998, Mr. Livshitz was Deputy to the Director of the President’s Administration. From 1999 to 2000, he represented Russia at the G8 summits. From 2000 to 2001, Mr. Livshitz was Chairman of the Board at Rossiysky Credit Bank and, at the same time, President of Brussels International Banks Club. In 2001, he was appointed a member of the UN Commission for Finance and the same year took up the post of Director for International and Special Corporate Projects at RUSAL.
