The Association of European Business is pleased to invite you to a round table discussion dedicated to the following topic:

Machine Building & the Global Financial Crisis, organised by the AEB Machine Building & Engineering Committee

The open event will take place on Thursday, December 11^th, 2008, from 9.00 to 11.00 (registration starts at 8:30) at the AEB premises Conference Room, Krasnoproletarskaya ul., 16, bld.3, entrance 8, floor 4, office 7.

The working languages are Russian and English. Translation will be provided.

The Global Financial crisis: is it fatal to industries or could be healthy? Studies show that strong companies outgrow their competitors especially during a recession. Why is that? The secret is that these successful companies use any opportunity to size-up their competitors and use their strength against them on the market acquire their competitors, play their strength on the market side, they then penetrate their customers and finally, ensure that their own profits are maintained via sales, price regulations, and special offers. Particular attention will be given to the Russian power industry and machine building and engineering, with speakers from companies such as Simon-Kucher & Partners, Poyry Energy Oy, and EMAlliance. You will have a unique opportunity to get a general overview of a problem of a company’s behaviour in crisis times as well as to analyse current situation in two important branches of industry, which in their turn rend influence onto other spheres.

This is the first open event of the newly created Committee. We hope that not only it will be stimulating for the AEB members, but will allow us to better identify Committee’s composition as well as a number of the topics and issues to be developed and discussed in the future.

AEB members’ participation for assigned representatives is free of charge;
