The AEB North-Western Regional Committee is pleased to invite you to take part in the webinar “European countries experience in overcoming COVID-19 crisis and recovering economies”, which is organized in partnership with the Consulate General of the Netherlands, Consulate General of Finland, Consulate General of Israel and the Russian-German Chamber of Commerce (AHK).
The webinar will be held on 06 October 2020, from 10:00 to 12:30 (Moscow Time) on the online platform Zoom.
The COVID-19 pandemic and the economic shutdowns are dealing a severe blow to the global economy, and the European countries are not an exception. After an unprecedented collapse in the first half of the year, economic output started to recover following the easing of containment measures and the initial re-opening of businesses, but the pace of recovery has lost some momentum more recently. New restrictions are being imposed in some European countries to tackle the resurgence of the virus. Uncertainty remains high and the strength of the economy recovery varies markedly between European countries and between business sectors.
How European economies were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in general? Which industries were the most badly affected? What support measures did the countries’ governments and EU provide to the business? What are the measures foreseen to speed recovery and blunt long-term adverse effects? What are the general economic forecasts by countries and when supposedly the economies may reach the pre-pandemic level? What strategies and actions different businesses have undertaken to stay afloat during the crisis? These are the main issues that will be discussed by distinguished economists and business representatives from the Netherlands, Finland, Germany and Israel during the webinar.
The program is liable to changes upon receipt of final confirmations from the speakers.
