Mikhail Fedotov is well known in Russia and abroad as uncompromised advocate for the freedom of speech and human rights activist. Being a professional lawyer, he was the minister of print media and information in early 1990-s and later Russia's permanent envoy in UNESCO.
As the new chairman Fedotov has already set the priorities of the Council's further work.
At the briefing Mikhail Fedotov will present a balanced assessment of Russian civil society compared with the EU. He will analyse democratic institutions and how they affect the decisions of foreign investors as well as Russian authorities. Mr. Fedotov will also address the issues of professional migration and other challenges of Russia's economic and political development.
