The online webinar was devoted to the law (dated July 31, 2020 No. 258-FZ) on experimental legal regimes in the field of digital innovations, which had been developed by the Ministry of Economic Development and would come into force on January 28, 2021. The Law would allow to create special regulatory regimes for testing new digital technologies. 

Tadzio Schilling, AEB CEO opened the event with welcome speech. Tadzio highlighted that the acceptance of the Law is an important step towards the introduction of "regulatory sandboxes" in Russia and the introduction of new technologies in various spheres of the country's life.

 

Alexey Minaev, Deputy Director of the Department for Digital Economy Development, Ministry of Economic Development and Dmitry Ter-Stepanov, Deputy CEO, Director for Normative Regulation, ANO Digital Economy explained the features of digital transformation in Russia and new directions for the development of the digital economy.

Ivan Kaisarov, Senior Associate, Eversheds Sutherland, made a presentation entitled: “Innovation as a new focus of the Governmental Policy: Regulatory Sandboxes, the development of Artificial Intelligence in Moscow and other legislative innovations”. 

 

Irina Shurmina, Senior Associate, CMS Russia and Ksenia Danshina, Associate, CMS Russia, made a presentation entitled “Regulatory Sandboxes and Artificial Intelligence: Russian and European approaches to intellectual property issues”. 

The event was moderated by Anton Bankovskiy, Chair of the AEB Intellectual Property Committee, Partner, CMS Russia.
