About a quarter of all Russians who worked remotely because of the pandemic will continue to prefer remote employment, said Mikhail Ivankov, head of the Federal Labor Service.

About a quarter of all Russians who worked remotely because of the pandemic will continue to prefer remote employment, said Mikhail Ivankov, head of the Federal Labor Service.

"At the beginning of 2021, we conducted a survey on our "Work in Russia" portal in relation to remote employment. Among those who worked remotely, 25% said they were willing to continue working remotely. 49% preferred forms of hybrid employment, where a person works in an office or they work remotely," Ivankov said in an interview on NTV's "Pozdnyakov" program on Wednesday.

Earlier in March, Russian Labor Minister Anton Kotyakov said that up to 3 million Russians in Russia currently continue to work remotely.

Asked about the level of illegal employment, Ivankov said that "according to estimates of the International Labor Organization, which is the main structure in the world that is responsible for labor and coordinates the actions of all countries," about 14% of the population works illegally in Russia, "it is the same figure as in Europe."

"But we have a different structure of illegal employment, (if) there (in Europe - IF) is illegal employment as an additional to the main, we have a significant number of completely working illegally, "- said the head of Rostrud.
