Bulgaria updated entry rules for Russians

29.07.2021

The Bulgarian Government has updated the requirements for international travelers to enter the country. Russia is still included in the orange group of countries, but additional sanitary control measures for Russian citizens have been canceled since July 29, 2021.

Now Russian citizens are again allowed to enter Bulgaria with one of the documents confirming the anti-covetail status. From July 7 until now, there was no variation: all Russians, regardless of vaccination status and/or COVID-19 suffered, were required to present a negative result of a PCR test for covid.

From July 29 to August 31, 2021, Russian tourists will need one of the following documents to enter Bulgaria:

  • Certificate of vaccination against COVID-19 in English, with passport data ("Sputnik V" is on the list of vaccines recognized by Bulgaria, at least 14 days must pass from the date of full course of immunization);
  • Certificate of negative PCR test result for coronavirus made not earlier than 72 hours before entry into the country in English;
  • Certificate with the result of rapid antigen test done 48 hours before entry into Bulgaria. Attention: Antigen test is not an antibody test!
  • Certificate of coronavirus infection in English (not more than 180 days from the date of recovery).

Children under 12 years of age do not need a certificate for a COVID-19 test to enter Bulgaria.
