Recent updates on COVID-19 related visa and migration regulation

08.09.2021

On September 1, 2021, Art 3.1 of the Federal Law N 270-FZ (01.07.2021) came into force.

According to the new rules, close relatives of Russian citizens may obtain multiple-entry visas for a period up to 1 year with the possibility to stay for the full duration of the visa without limitations and without the need to receive an invitation by the territorial body of the Russian Ministry of Interior.

Previously, regardless of the degree of kinship, only single-entry and double-entry private visas for up to 3 months could be issued. Longer multiple-entry visas were issued solely on a strict reciprocity basis.

In addition, starting September 4, 2021, the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) canceled the requirement of self-isolation for those who come to Russia from Great Britain, the corresponding decree was signed by the Head of the Service, Anna Popova. Entry rules for British citizens are now identical to those of other listed countries, i.e. only citizens entering Russia for work purposes required to self-isolate for 14 days.
