Russian Federal Air Transport Agency described the phasing out of sanitary measures at airports

26.05.2020

Russian Federal Air Transport Agency and Rospotrebnadzor have developed recommendations for the gradual lifting of sanitary measures at airports and airplanes. Directions are published on the website of the Federal Air Transport Agency.

The abolition of sanitary measures involves three stages. Authorities suggest dividing  Airports  by level of risk: "high" and "low". A high level of risk is at airports where passengers fly from a region with more than 50 thousand confirmed cases of COVID-19. Risk levels should be adjusted depending on the dynamics of the disease, a decision is also made to move to the next stage of weakening measures. For airports located in Moscow and the Moscow region, the stage is determined by the worst indicator of two entities.

At the airports, Russian Federal Air Transport Agency and Rospotrebnadzor recommend:

  • Compliance of airport employees with a social distance of 1.5 m from each other. Their number in the building should be minimal until the second stage.
  • Wearing masks and gloves by staff and passengers, disinfection of  hands are always foreseen now.
  • The ban on staying in the airport building for more than two hours to everyone except the passengers themselves, their escorts and airport employees, air conditioning control (cancellation only in the third stage).
  • The ban on the work of public catering organizations and shops (will be lifted in the third stage). Takeaway meals are currently only possible for airport workers.
  • Thermometry for passengers entering the airport and a ban on staying at the airport for people with a temperature of more than 37 degrees (will also be canceled at the last stage).

Departments indicate that restrictions will also be lifted for passengers during the flight. At the first two stages, passengers need to be wearing a mask and gloves all the way, take off their outwear  and keep a distance when landing. Seating should also be in compliance with the distance. On flights lasting more than three hours, cabin crew will replace masks for passengers. At the first stage, the “fasten your seat belts” mode will be maintained during the entire flight.

At the third stage, almost all of these measures will be canceled: the temperature check will be canceled, boarding and seating on board, as well as food will be carried out in normal mode. Passengers will only have to wear masks and gloves if one of the passengers has a fever during the flight.
