The State Duma supported a new package of anti-crisis support measures

21.05.2020

On May 21, at the plenary session of the State Duma, the deputies supported the draft law providing new measures to support citizens and businesses in the conditions of coronavirus proliferation.

According to the document, tenants from the most affected sectors of the economy will be able to unilaterally terminate the lease agreement until October 1, if their income fell by more than 50%, and not to compensate for losses in the form of lost profits. At the same time, the security payment will remain with the landlord.

A number of innovations also apply to the tourism sector. Thus, the government will be able to reduce the amount of annual contribution to the personal responsibility fund for tour operators, as well as to establish the features of cancellation or postponement of hotel reservations.
Also, the Cabinet of Ministers may suspend the obligation of tour operators to return tourists' money for vouchers, provided for the provision of equivalent tourist product in the future, said in an explanatory note. If a citizen does not use the certificate before its expiration date, the travel agency will have to refund the full cost of travel and interest.
